Salmon Arm etc.

Salmon Arm Don't miss the two big masters races this weekend in Salmon Arm. Sunday's 40 km time trial is for double points. Race director Olaf Stana advises us of a small change in format for the road race Monday. It will be a four-lap circuit at 14+ km each and include a 2 km climb. Because the course is more challenging, it's expected that the total running time -- about two hours -- won't be much different than the original five-lap course. For more details check our race schedule, or better, see http://vo2max-vo2max.blogspot.com).

Grand Forks Your web guy (Dave Steen) apologizes to the Grand Forks Cycling Club for his failure here to promote its weekend event.  President Bill Yearwood reports that it more than lived up to its usual high standards, with many top performances and Anton Kew's classy event organizing. Anton will be moving to Prince Edward Island, a profound loss for cycling in BC. All of us in the Masters program wish him well. For more on the weekend events, check the  www.grandforkscyclingclub.com

Scheduling alert  # 1 Please note that Sidney Velo's 50 km time trial is August 8. See our race schedule here for the details. The date (August 29) for this event that appears on sheets circulated to race managers is not correct.

Scheduling alert #2  The South Langley 65 k race on August 22 has been cancelled. In its place, a crit in Whistler is being planned. More details to follow.

Scheduling alert #3  The provincial time trial championships (not a BC Masters Cycling event) has been set for August 29 in Abbotsford. This is on the same day as the BCMCA's road race in Lake Cowichan.

 Nanaimo time trials, crits etc.
Peter McCaffery has added Wednesday night crits to an ambitious program for Nanaimo area cyclists.  Now in its third season, the slate includes regular Thursday night time trials on a beautiful, quiet course just south of Nanaimo. And more hill climbs will be added this year. For more, check out the new website, crafted by Tony Winter at www.bikeracing.ca

        Recycle cycling medals

By turning in your race medals you will receive coupons that cover entry fees. Four old medals -- any color will do -- equals a $10 entry, and eight will get you into a race that charges $20. For more medal information, talk to David Mercer.
(David also has some ideas on ways to improve our sport. For his blog ... Take a look. )

      Non resident racing policy
Because we've received questions about the non-resident racing policy, we're re-posting  information here from Cycling BC.
