(Site updated August 22, 2008)

   Check out this schedule change
The date and time of the Cedar road race has been changed from Saturday, August 30, to the next day, Sunday, August 31. More participants and volunteers prefer Sunday. The new start time of 11.30 a.m. fits better with ferry schedules, both for arrivals at Duke Point and Departure Bay.

See you at the September 7 finale

BCMCA invites you to the season's final race and awards luncheon Sunday September 7. The weekend of September 6th has two events. On Saturday we have a short Hill Climb (0.6 Km steep) near Tony Hoar's home in Mill Bay at 3 p.m. On Sunday at 11 a.m. we will start the last BCMCA race for 2008 on Vancouver Island. It will be a 65 Km Australian pursuit that starts and finishes at the Cherry Point Vineyards. It is a double points event.
Lunch (lavish) will be provided free, after the race on Sunday, to all BCMCA full members and volunteers. Others can buy lunch for $25 (plus taxes and tip).
RSVP by 29 August 2008: Kim Gard,
e-mail garddogs@shaw.ca or telephone 250-370-2689.
Annual championship awards will be presented at the luncheon.  So if you hold a trophy that is handed on from year to year, please bring it, all shined up, or ship it in advance.
We look forward to seeing you there congratulating the champions (riders and volunteers).
      Cheers  Bill Yearwood

                          BC tours

Joerg Becker has been running top-notch bike tours for more than 20 years. There are still a few places left for a 2-week tour starting in Vernon September 7. It includes rides in the Kootenay Mountains and the North Cascades in Washington, ending with an epic climb up Mount Baker.  Ginny and Dr. Andrew Sellars of FaCT-Education will be along to share their knowledge on sport physiology and training programs. For information on this and next year's tour in New Zealand in January and February 2009 and an April training camp in Mallorca, visit www.magicplaces.ca .

             Mid-week time trials
The new Thursday night time trials on Nanaimo Lakes Rd, just south of Nanaimo, are quickly gaining popularity. Wheelers C.C. is staging the series. For more information check out pakamac@gmail.com or call 250-244-1597.

                  2008 with BCMCA
Dear Members:  Each Masters rider's best 15 race results will be used to determine overall 2008 champions. This change allows riders to volunteer at races and/or miss some races and still compete for the championship. (Please check our updated 2008 schedule.)
Your BCMCA 2008 membership is still $30 for the year. When we get your completed form, you will receive your race number for the year in the mail, along with the 2008 event calendar. If you decide not to buy a Cycling BC Citizen License, please sign the BC Cycling insurance waiver and return it to us with your BCMCA membership application/waiver. You will receive your Cycling BC Associate membership card from us after we get it from Cycling BC.
